When Lies are Believed...Stand Firm in the Truth.

Have any of you at one point or another found yourselves in painful situations that left you "parlayed" in shock? Maybe you have experienced hardship that left you wondering what on Earth you were going to do next? Maybe, just maybe, a person held in high esteem wore lenses of insecurity and began believing lies about you, making you the perfect target for their scrutiny.

I have found myself in those situations throughout the past year and I am not alone and have not been alone through it all. You have been there, so to speak, in your painful situations. You have gone through hard stuff too. It's hard. Really hard. You are not alone!

I write this because the struggle is real and over the course of this past year I have gleaned golden nuggets of truth that I just do not want to forget.

1) It is not always what wrong has been done or is being said and done to you. It is, "how am I going to respond to this?"(Sometimes the response requires major action and sometimes it does not.)
2) When you have done all you can do on your end of things, stand then. Stand firm in the truth. Pray and trust the Lord for the rest.  (Eph. 6:13,14)
3) Justice does not have to be up to me. I can speak the truth and then surrender every detail to the Lord. For the Lord will take all that is wrong and will make it right. (Rom. 12:18-20)
4) Forgive the person[s] that wronged you. Dwelling on the hurt they inflict causes our focus to be on ourselves and provides great opportunity for bitterness to creep in. Forgiveness liberates us from dwelling on the pain to seeing the beauty before us.  We will see beyond the situation and we will be restored. Often times the Lord's peace - that goes beyond our understanding - is our blanket of rest. (Phil. 4:7)
5) The Lord has a purpose for allowing this in my life. There is a reason for this. I must not give up in doing good. For in just the right time I will receive my reward. (Eph. 6:9)
6) Seek the Lord first. Look for Him in the situation. Ask the Lord questions! Ask the Lord to lead you and guide you. Ask Him to teach you His ways. He will be found as you seek Him. He will lead you. He will teach you His ways.

There are so many songs that have helped me through the hard stuff and today I came across a song that "wowed" me with its accuracy to everything... Maybe it will for you too?!

Be encouraged. You are not alone. The Lord will take all that is wrong and will make it right at the perfect time.

"Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
