Your Greatest Ally
I picked a book off
the shelf late one night, opened it to any page and began reading. The next
thirty to forty minutes flew by as I turned the pages. Many bits of wisdom
stood out to me. So many. The one that frequently comes to mind is, "the
greatest ally you could ever have is the Lord."
This afternoon Jeff
and I experienced a portion of Lord's heart concerning the persecution of His
people. Specifically in Iraq right now. As we were praying, that phrase above
came to mind, this time with an additional statement. "The greatest ally
you could ever have is the Lord and the greatest enemy you could ever have? Is
the Lord."
Having the Lord as your ally:
o
The Lord is
faithful in all He does.
o
Meaning, He
is submitted and committed.
§
For
the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all
he does.
§
Your
kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your
dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all
he promises and faithful
in all he does.
§ The Lord is righteous in all
his ways and faithful in all he does.
o
The
Lord Cares for you and Protects you
§ The angel of the Lord
encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.
o
The
Lord is trustworthy
§
Your
kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all
generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises
and faithful in all he does.
§ The
law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The
statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the
simple.
§ Sovereign
Lord, you are God! Your covenant is trustworthy, and you
have promised these good things
to your servant.
o
When you trust the Lord he will
straighten out the road before you:
o
Proverbs 3:
5.6
§ Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean
not on your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will
make your paths straight.
Being the Lord’s enemy:
o
The Lord will
do as He sees fit:
o
As the enemy came down
toward him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, “Strike this army with blindness.”
So he struck them with
blindness, as Elisha had asked.
2 Samuel 22:14-16
o
The Lord thundered from heaven;
the
voice of the Most High resounded. He shot his arrows and
scattered the enemy,
with great
bolts of lightning he routed them.
The valleys of the sea were exposed
and
the foundations of the earth laid bare
at the rebuke of the Lord,
at the blast
of breath from his nostrils.
o
If the Lord’s
children are trusting the Lord then you can be sure you will be delivered into
their hands. It’s just a matter of time.
o
The men said, “This is the day the
Lord spoke of when he said to you, ‘I will give your enemy into your
hands for you to deal with as you wish.’” Then David crept up unnoticed
and cut off a corner of Saul’s robe.
§ “Follow
me,” he ordered, “for the Lord has given Moab, your enemy, into
your hands.” So they followed him down and took possession of the
fords of the Jordan that led to Moab; they allowed no one to
cross over.
There is just SO much more
throughout scripture to share! I will stop here though. Do your own reading. Read these scripture references in context. Scripture is filled with many more examples.
To my dear friends
and readers, …in
your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to
everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But
do this with gentleness and respect…[and I say, come what may.] 1 Peter 3:15
