"This little light of mine..."
As the band sang prayers and praises I could hear behind me Tanya singing my favorite childhood song. A song my mom often sang to me...
"This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine..."
As I began to hum and sing along with her I had this deep revelation of the light we are given when Jesus lives in our hearts. My thought process took me to this question,"what part of that light is little?" As soon as I asked myself, it only seemed silly. There's nothing little about that light! If anything I am the little one! However, as little as we are, we are blessed with such a powerful light that pierces the darkness in us and around us - to display the majesty of our Lord!
What I learned is that God's light in us is not limited to our physical size. God's light is great! It can fill us to the brim and spill out of us like an overflowing brook. So, "this BIG light of mine, I'm going to let it shine, let it shine, let it SHINE. I won't let Satan blow it out. I'm going to let it shine! I won't let Satan blow it out! I'm going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine."
John 1: 5 "The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it." [New Living Translation]
Thoughts to think on...

Like any precious gift, how am I caring for this often overlooked, priceless gift from the LORD?
In what ways do I "let my light shine"?
In what ways do I "let my light shine"?
How are my actions a reflection of the LORD with me?
My heart...how is it?
Ephesians 5: 15-20 "So be careful how
you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make
the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t
act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don’t be
drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the
Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among
yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And
give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ."
"Put me on trial, LORD, and cross-examine me. Test my motives and my heart." Psalm 26:2
Ephesians 5: 8,9 "For once you
were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For
this light within you produces only what is good and right and true."
