Our Legacy and Grass

The morning was absolute beauty. To give you an idea, I live on top of a mountain, or for some, a big hill. It overlooks the Arkansas River and our cute little town of Ozark. I can never get enough of the sun rays breaking through the morning mist, or the way the river glimmers in the morning light. In this particular morning the trees danced in the gentle breeze and my heart was basically soaring with the morning birds. Everything within me comes alive in times like this! And so I try to capture the moments within a photo or two because soon the moments will become memories I won’t want to forget. -- There happened to be a photo I just loved, it’s a rare case that I like the photos about as much as the reality and this photo was just so. It was through this photo that what I read in the next few minutes in Psalm 103 spoke directly to my heart.

“As for man, his days are like grass—
he blooms like a flower of the field; when the wind passes over it, it vanishes,
and its place is no longer known. But from eternity to eternity
the LORD's faithful love is toward those who fear Him…” Psalm 103:15-17a

How small we are and how short our life is. Yet, God cares about us. I know it is hard to wrap your mind around God loving you. That’s okay! Don’t try to understand; life is too short to try and understand God’s ways, His ways will always be higher than our ways just as His faithful love will always be towards us who fear Him. Embrace this truth today. Dear reader, it's no accident you're reading this, when you believe in Him you don't have a small part of God - you have all of Him caring, liking and loving you.

Personal Challenge? How am I living my life? Am I living it in such a way that it will have an eternal impact? Because I can do great things, I was created to do great things, but if I’m not inviting God to be apart of my daily walk then what I leave behind will most certainly not last. However, if what I do is to serve and glorify God then when I pass away my life will have been of some value because God is an everlasting God and His purposes continue and are satisfied. From eternity to eternity He is there.
