Vila - Part 1

...I met a women today and she has led me to want to paint a portrait of what I saw...She was sitting in the center of a warn down glass and screenless window. Her head hung low and held mostly grey hair with closed eyes. We had teamed up with the church and split into groups, at this time we were visiting "houses" to invite neighbors and children alike to church this evening. What I did not expect was to witness something so pitiful and sorry. I was the only girl in the group and had the "job" to talk to the women and invite them to churh. When she looked up at me her eyes were clouded over from old age and I wondered if she wasn't blind. With what spainish I knew I invited her to come, what else could I say or do, I didn't know. -- After talking some to one of our young men she pulled up her dress to expose skin and bone legs with a bandaged left knee. The bandage being what looked like an old t-shirt. Then she began crying. Her soft sobs were deep and shook her whole body; I almost joined in with her. With a few quiet moments I asked if we may go in and pray for her. That time was emotional. After praying I opened my eyes to see her quiet and sofly breathing, at first my heart skipped a beat for I thought in one split second that she had passed away. However half a minute later she opened her eyes and looked right into mine. I pretty much couldn't hold the tears in by then. What she said precisely I don't know, but what I do know is that she expressed her desire to invite God to be apart of her life and within her heart. The young man led her in prayer and she repeated after him. Oh how sweet it was. Oh she was just so precious! haha I can just see her now and her beautiful smile through tears. Before departing she placed her dirty cloth used for drying her tears inside her old tan apron and we exchanged names. I came to learn her sister shares the same name as I! Nothing seemed more precious than in that time.

!
So now we have a new sister in Christ whom is frail and needs much prayer, if you all could be praying for 'Vila' that would be so wonderful. Pray also for her family and that they all come to desire a relationship with God as well~
