Peru

The flight here was luxurious, first class treatment was supreme [that or everything seemed extravagent in comparison to our coach tickets: the four of us girls mouths just kept dropping in awe!-(they upgraded our tickets)]. From the beginning of that day God's blessings were being poured out in sweet delight. -- I remember waking up during our 16 hour bus ride to find everyone quietly asleep and outside the window was the most beautiful of snow landscape I've ever seen. The moon light was bouncing off the snow decorating these beautiful evergreen (?) trees growing along the rocky mountain. It was lovely~ Then I feel asleep once again and awoke to the arrival of Huancavelica. Apparently that night, during the ride our bus broke down. Anywhere along the way is a rather sketchy drive for any huge bus and so a break down was not comforting for the still awake passengers. I'm so very thankful for a peaceful sleep that night and God's protective hand.

The church we are working with is very welcoming and warm. We love the pastor and his family. The pastor breaks all the molds I naturally seem to associate with foreign pastors.[I never knew I had a mold until I was surprised by his fun genuine character.] He is quite comical, a great father and husband. -- This church is so genuine and their heart is so very big for this province. Pastor Roberto has asked each of us to share our testimonies during youth group and the young adults meeting as well as give the message last Sunday. It's been such a privilege.

All of these Peruvians have welcomed us in and have treated us just like family. Their joy and laughter is so very fun and their games....well we'll just have to teach you them when we get home ;]

This morning was spent painting the old church building, all furniture moved the day before, and boy was that fumey! Oh goodness, that reminds me, the children here are so precious! okay...I've never met one not precious...but! They will walk by the church or houses selling an interesting mix of ice cream/yogurt/fluff. Or, you'll find them playing in the puddles of the streets this bowling/dodge ball game. So fun!

Okay enough reminiscing for now. At this moment we are preparing to be in the plazas of Peru to share two skits...we're stretching out of our comfort zones to share the gospel and I have to say, it's not so bad now =)

We do have a couple prayer points:

* Please pray for our health. We have struggled with the altitude in one form or another. Things like headaches, sore gums, heavy breathing from brushing teeth or hair like to sneak in out of the blue.
--In the last two days, flu like symptoms come and go.

* That we are sensitive to God's leading.
* Stronger team unity.
* Pray against homesickness.
* That Johannes and I would have wisdom and grace as leaders.
* That our team would have grace with us as leaders! =)

I hope you all are enjoying this year so far and I look forward to hearing your about your joy's and yes the not so fun times. (=

TTFN!

A Few photos~
